THE ADDED VALUE OF GOOD LOGISTICS COORDINATION

As a manufacturer, you must be able to trust your suppliers. FLOS makes good on its promises by providing a logistics service that runs like clockwork. With FLOS you can be certain that the right components and fasteners of the right quantities and quality will be delivered to the right place at the right time. And that place doesn’t always have to be your warehouse, either. FLOS can also store fasteners and components for you, handle the inventory management and deliver the products when you need them. And we can take care of the purchasing too, because we know the market like the back of our hand. So, you see, FLOS does everything possible to allow you to attain the highest level of efficiency for your internal processes.

Logistics solutions and services
With logistics solutions and services tailored to meet your way of doing business, FLOS seamlessly accommodates your production needs and logistics systems. We deliver on the basis of:
- one-off orders (60,000 products available)
- pre-purchasing (reservations)
- call-off orders
- just-in-time delivery
- two-bin systems
- line feeding, etc.

Custom delivery
With FLOS’s custom logistics solutions you save on your logistics, without paying more for the extra service. Because we already provide most services anyway, this is simply a matter of good communication about what is needed. For example, we deliver fasteners, components, etc. in any quantity and packaging you desire. FLOS also supplies ready-to-use project packs (parts for a single project) and sets (kitting: parts for a single assembly). Finally, we make it easy for you by producing subassemblies and labelling orders with stickers that include barcodes, article or project numbers, a logo, and similar information. These ‘extras’ result in a professional appearance and ensure easy processing.

Kitting
Kitting is a process in which individually separate but related items are grouped, packaged and supplied together as one unit. According to your specifications we pack one or more items in a set/package, which is used in your production as a single component.

If required we can label the package with the desired information about the content (part number, description, number, etc.).
Kitting is applied to ensure that all parts arrive at the destination, without having to pack, bundle or collect them yourselves. You save significant time and handling costs.

Kitting is also ideally suited to apply to units that our customers provide on site. Here, kitting has the following advantages:
- No physical handling of separate products, only the packaging.
- Installation instructions attached or included.
- Just one part number.

FLOS has over 15 years experience in kitting, since its benefits results in cost savings for our customers.
If you are interested or if you need kitting, please contact us. We will make you a free offer and calculate the benefits of kitting for you.

Kanban/bin system
'Kanban' (the Japanese term for signal) was developed by Toyota. A Kanban system ensures that supplies are topped up on the basis of consumption (pull instead of push). When the stock falls to a certain point, there is an upstream signal to the process to refill the stock again. A two-bin system is an implementation of Kanban.

A two-bin system provides manufacturers many advantages:
- Goods administrative burdens minimised
- The products are always on time
- Total cost of ownership is low

FLOS has been gaining experience with the two-bin system for its customers since 1992, and we therefore have so much experience that we are able to deal pro-actively with previously-installed two-bin systems. We constantly monitor and update your bin system where needed.

Two-bin is a pull-production system. The stock per item or article is divided into two bins. One is grab stock, the other reserve stock. When the bin with grab stock is empty, the contents will be ordered again and the bin will be filled with a fixed number of components. The reserve stock will then be grab stock and the bin that is filled is the new reserve stock, etc.
The advantage of the two-bin system is that the time of ordering is clearly established (the very moment the bin with grab stock becomes empty). Here, scheduling is hardly needed; an empty container is the signal to order again.

A two bin system requires a regular consumption pattern. If your production is not regular, but you would like to benefit from a two-bin system anyway, we can offer you our customised logistics services.
